Maintenance
Maintenance, it’s just so horribly, mind numbingly boring. Day in day out. Week after week. Month after month. Nothing ever seems to happen. Barely more interesting than watching mud dry.
After a while your mind assigns the chore to the “Not So Important” list. You’re running late, gotta get to work. It can wait. Other items in our busy schedules gradually nudge the task out of our admittedly short attention span, almost imperceptibly, but there it is.
And then, one day a plugin update scatters your checkers across the floor, or you’ve missed an update and left a security vulnerability open long enough to let one of “those people” in. The party is on and suddenly your site is being used to sell cut rate Viagra, or advertising porn, or worst of all it’s been hijacked and being held for ransom.
If the damage and solution is something you don’t understand, you suddenly find yourself seeking professional help. Hopefully just the website type of professional help, but I have seen some high stress levels as well.
Raging River Maintenance
Each morning our first order of business – right after the coffee of course – is to check for updates and problems on the sites we manage. We maintain a testing environment where we perform all updates first. This lets us look for problems before they impact our client’s websites. If no problems appear the updates can continue for our clients.
Raging River monitors different Facebook tech “groups”. We do this for many reasons but one advantage to this is hearing about problems stemming from current updates. If an update is problematic we usually hear about this before we implement them. Sometimes it’s wiser to wait for the next update.
Raging River will also monitor alerts from your security plugin (we understand these well) and take what action is required. Raging River highly recommends Wordfence Security plugin which we will be glad to install and optimize, and we can even save you considerable cost if you need, or decide to go with, the Pro version.
If you are forgetful, we understand completely and will gladly monitor your Domain, Hosting and SSL certificate renewal notices as well. Renewal notices come as emails, no other form of communication with you is attempted. After so long your site comes down, or even worse, your domain is sold, right out from under you. Usually $500 is the minimum price suggested for the ransom of your lost domain. With Raging River Maintenance you will receive personal phone calls and text messages to inform you of the situation, not just a quick email for you to miss.
But there's more...
As part of Raging River Maintenance we will provide a few other values.
If it is right for your needs, Raging River will install and maintain the free Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate, renewing it every three months. If it is not correct for your situation we can save you money on the paid option as well.
